From Archimedes to 2,000 years, especially since the 20th century, fluid mechanics has developed into the basic science part of the system, while in industry, agriculture, transportation, astronomy, earth science, biology, medicine, etc. been widely used.
In the future, people on the one hand according to the needs of engineering and technical aspects of fluid mechanics applied research, on the other hand will be more depth to carry out basic research to explore the complexity of the fluid flow pattern and mechanism. The latter include: theoretical and experimental study of turbulence, to understand its structure and to establish the mode of calculation; multiphase flow; the interaction of fluids and structures; boundary layer flow and separation; biological geoscience and environmental fluid flow problems; a variety of laboratory equipment and instruments.
